Chapter 5 Installing Additional Memory NOTE Keep both memory boards in the HP NetServer during operation, even if the secondary board has no DIMMs. The empty board acts as a terminator for the memory board slot. A memory board has 16 DIMM sockets and accepts 64 MB or 256 MB buffered EDO DIMMs (50 ns). Each board has a maximum capacity of 4096 MB when fully populated with 256 MB DIMMs. The minimum memory configuration is four 64 MB DIMMs on the main memory board (in slots J1, J2, J3, and J4). Figure 5-3 shows the layout of a 4 GB Memory Board. Each board's 16 DIMM slots are divided into four banks of four slots. 35
