To remove a simple-swap drive in bay 4, 5, 6, or 7 complete the following steps. Figure 27. Removing a simple-swap hard disk drive 1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines" on page 29. 2. Turn off the computer and all attached devices; then, disconnect all external cables and power cords. 3. Unlock the side cover. The bezel will not disengage from the computer if the cover is locked. You do not have to remove the side cover. 4. Remove the lower bezel (see "Removing the two-piece bezel" on page 33). 5. Pull the loops of the drive assembly that is to be removed toward each other; then, pull the assembly out of the bay. 6. If you are instructed to return the drive, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you. Some models come with simple-swap SATA or SAS hard disk drives, which are accessible from the front of the computer. Before you install a simple-swap SATA or SAS hard disk drive, read the following information: v Read the documentation that comes with the hard disk drive for cabling instructions. v You can install four simple-swap SATA or SAS hard disk drives in the computer. Drives are installed starting in bay 4. Additional drives are then installed in bays 5, 6, and 7. To remove a simple-swap drive in bay 4, 5, 6, or 7 complete the following steps.
1.
Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 29.
2.
Turn off the computer and all attached devices; then, disconnect all external
cables and power cords.
3.
