Table 7. Abbreviated list of POST error codes (continued) v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is solved. v See the parts listing in the Problem Determination and Service Guide to determine which components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units (FRU). v If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a trained service technician. Error code Description Action 1801 A PCI adapter has requested memory resources that are not available. 1. Make sure that no devices have been disabled in the Configuration/Setup Utility program. 2. Change the order of the adapters in the PCI, PCI-X, and PCI Express slots. Make sure that the startup (boot) device is positioned early in the scanning order. (For information about the scanning order, see the User's Guide on the IBM System x3400 Documentation CD). 3. Make sure that the settings for the adapter and all other adapters in the Configuration/Setup Utility program are correct. If the memory resource settings are not correct, change them. 4. If all memory resources are being used, remove an adapter to make memory available to the adapter. Disabling the BIOS on the adapter should correct the error. See the documentation that comes with the adapter. 1810 PCI error. 1. Make sure that no devices have been disabled in the Configuration/Setup Utility program. 2. Reseat the failing adapter. Note: If an error LED is lit on an adapter, reseat that adapter first; if no LEDs are lit, reseat each adapter one at a time, restarting the server each time, to isolate the failing adapter. 3. Replace the following components one at a time, in the order shown, restarting the server each time: a. Failing adapter b.
