1-6 Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities Hardware and Software User Guide Downlink and Uplink Ports The Downlink and Uplink Ports are defined by the physical cabling that exists between devices in the management hierarchy. Downlink Ports or Parent Ports are ports on the higher level devices to which a device lower in the hierarchy is attached. These can appear in both proxy masters as well as cascaded devices. Uplink Ports or Child Ports are the port numbers on the lower-level device that attachment is made to. Device ports Initial HMU Startup The first time HMU is started, the IP address of a Compaq-managed proxy master device at your site must be entered. If you do not have that address, check with a system administrator so that you have it before launching HMU. Thereafter, that IP address will be stored in a file in the default path, "C:\Program Files\Compaq\HMU\", or at an alternative path if one was entered during installation. It will not need to be entered again unless it changes or a different proxy master is to be managed. The initial starting sequence is as follows:
