2-2 Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities Hardware and Software User Guide d. Display Device View is an intuitive GUI interface that presents the same information noted above but in a completely graphical representation of the front panel of the hub. 2. Control functions: HMU contains a full suite of control functions. These functions are located in one of three locations: a. The Context Menu - As noted, one of the items on the Context Menu is the Display Network View tab pages. One of its tabs, Network Configuration, permits control of the Polling Rate, Retry Count, and Timeout period of SNMP polling as well as enabling the user to set the Trap Management station's IP address. b. Device View - This GUI interface also permits you to set and reset some of the parameters controlled by the Context menu. These are discussed in the next chapter. c. File Menu - Clicking File at the top of the main window opens a menu that gives access to several important including configuring the log file and deleting events. This menu sets these parameters across the entire monitored network. This menu is discussed later in this chapter. 3. Compaq Storage Hub 12 Diagnostic Tools Fault Diagnosis and Resolution: Finally, the DisplayNetwork View tab pages also contain two separate fault diagnostics. The first is Loop Utilization Alert and the other is Diagnostic Tools. Selections in these pages include the following: Set Utilization Alert Percentage - This feature permits the setting of the network utilization rate to the point at which an alarm is sounded. The default value is a 90 percent utilization, but it can be increased or decreased easily. Diagnostic Tools - This is a set of automatic diagnostic and repair tools that initiates the following two diagnostics: Loop Initialization Diagnostic - This diagnostic will appear whenever one or more devices are unable to initialize properly. The tool continues to restart the initialization process. The diagnostic will determine which devices are at fault, isolate them, and identify them. Broadcast Storm Diagnostic - This is related to the Loop Initialization diagnostic. Broadcast Storm Diagnostic will hunt down and isolate any device that is broadcasting a continuous stream of LIP(F7,x) or other primitives.
