Managing from Hub 12 Management Utilities GUI Menu Screen 2-19 Multiple SAN Discovery The HMU SAN Manager can manage more than one SAN at a time. To accomplish this, perform discovery on each network's proxy master. If there is a previously defined proxy master when another network's proxy master is added, they will appear as independent networks on the SAN View tab pages. Each proxy master can be easily identified, since each displays its IP address. This becomes very convenient when monitoring more than SAN. Each of the proxy masters can be removed, along with its entire network while still leaving the other networks intact. In addition, several parameters can be set for all networks in a global manner using the File Menu. Add Device The hubs and switches automatically discover valid FC devices attached to a port. Furthermore, if traffic has been transferred between two FC devices, then the AL_PAs of the device will be trapped and displayed. This screen allows the user to enter additional information about the FC devices discovered in the SAN. By doing this, the device will be displayed in the Device View as well as other displays. 4. Begin with the Context Menu to attach an additional information about a device. Place the cursor directly over the hub to which you want to attach the unmanaged device. (Please note that you must be careful to select the correct managed device). Next, right-click the mouse to display the Context Menu. Select Add Device. The Add Device dialog box, shown in the figure below, is displayed.

Multiple SAN Discovery

accomplish this, perform discovery on each network’s proxy master.

tab pages. Each proxy master can be easily identified, since each displays its

Each of the proxy masters can be removed, along with its entire network while
still leaving the other networks intact.

Begin with the
Context Menu
to attach an additional information about
a device. Place the cursor directly over the hub to which you want to
attach the unmanaged device. (Please note that you must be careful to
select the correct managed device). Next, right-click the mouse to
display the
Context Menu
. Select
Add Device
. The Add Device dialog
box, shown in the figure below, is displayed.
