Managing from Device View 3-7 Hot Standby Backup Port - This option allows you to take advantage of redundant hardware such as dual-ported FC-AL hard drives. The hub provides the capability to designate a port as a hot-standby port. This can be used when cascading two hubs together or when attaching a dualported FC device such as a hard drive to a hub to provide link redundancies. Should the primary connection fail, the backup link becomes active and network operation is not interrupted. Cut-in delay - This is a variant of the Authorized Cut-in feature discussed above. Some devices will generate invalid data when they boot up. By doing so, they restrict the loop from completing loop initialization. To avoid disruption of the loop during device boot-up, the user can specify a Cut-In Delay. When the hub first detects that a device connected to the port is ready to join the loop, it will use the specified Cut-In Delay to keep the device bypassed from the loop until the delay period has expired.
