2-26 Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities Hardware and Software User Guide SNMP Defaults If more than one SAN is being monitored, the SNMP polling parameters, as well as Community Names, can be set simultaneously for all networks under management. Figure 2-19. Global SNMP Parameter settings There are three SNMP polling parameters that can be set globally with this window. Polling Rate - The poll rate establishes how frequently you want HMU to poll the network for status. The default is 0.5 or half a second. The Poll Rate should be in the range 500ms-1 hour. Timeout Period - When HMU issues a request to a managed device, it waits for a specified number of milliseconds and then retries for a specified number of retries before reporting a lack of connection if there is no response. The default is 20,000 (20 seconds). The Timeout should be in the range of 5,000-30,000ms. Retry Count - This is the number of retries mentioned above. The default is 3. The number of retries should be in the range of 2-10. Community Names can also be set globally with this window. Enter the names and click Set. IMPORTANT: Compaq Community Names are case-sensitive and limited to 15 characters.
