Hardware Upgrades Stopping and Removing a PC Card Ä CAUTION: To prevent loss of work or an unresponsive system, stop the PC Card before removing it. ✎ An inserted PC Card uses power even when it is not in use. To conserve power, stop a PC Card when you are not using it. 1. To stop a PC Card: ❏ In Windows 2000 Professional, select the Unplug or Eject icon on the taskbar, then select the PC Card. ❏ In Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional, select the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the taskbar, then select the PC Card. Stopping and Removing a PC Card

CAUTION:
To prevent loss of work or an unresponsive system,
stop the PC Card before removing it.
An inserted PC Card uses power even when it is not in use. To
conserve power, stop a PC Card when you are not using it.
1. To stop a PC Card:
In Windows 2000 Professional, select the Unplug or
Eject icon on the taskbar, then select the PC Card.
In Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional,
select the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the taskbar,
then select the PC Card. (To display the Safely Remove
Hardware icon, select the Show Hidden Icons icon on the
taskbar.)
2. To release the PC Card, press the PC Card eject button
