Configuring Duct System Settings The topics in this section offer specific instructions on how to configure the primary duct settings. If you take time to configure settings prior to drawing duct systems, you should be able to lay out your designs more quickly and accurately. Duct settings are stored with a drawing. You can use different duct settings for different drawings, and you can share one set of duct settings among drawings. For general information on duct settings, see HVAC System Settings on page 168. Configuring Duct Layout Preferences Duct layout preferences can be configured to automate certain features as you draw duct runs. They include routing behavior settings, annotation settings, flexible duct settings, and connection settings. Many of the features in duct layout preferences can also be done manually to a duct run after it is created, but you may be able to save time and improve accuracy by specifying these settings before drawing duct systems. Layout preferences are stored with the drawing. You can use different layout preferences for different drawings, and you can share layout preferences among drawings. Configuring Justification for Duct Insertion Use this procedure to specify how duct is positioned when inserted in a drawing. For example, by default the horizontal and vertical justification for duct insertion is set to the centerline of the duct run. The centerline of the resulting duct segments and fittings will be placed along the points you specify as you draw duct runs. The elevation provides the baseline for the vertical justification. You can change the justification for duct insertion. For example, if you want to align the top of the duct run with a ceiling, you change the vertical justification to top. If you want to offset the duct run horizontally from a wall, you change the horizontal justification to right or left, and specify an offset distance from the wall. You can change the horizontal and vertical justification to achieve 9 different insertion settings.
