Regenerating a Part Catalog, Migrating Part Catalogs

If any errors were found, you can fix them by opening the catalog in the Catalog Editor, navigating to the part, and editing the part data. For more information, see Customizing Catalogs in Catalog Editor on page 774. Regenerating a Part Catalog You should regenerate a part catalog that you have modified. Regenerating a part catalog updates the Autodesk part catalog (APC) file. A part catalog can be used in AutoCAD MEP only if it is updated (regenerated). To regenerate a part catalog 1 Verify that the catalog you modified is one of the part catalogs specified on the MEP Catalogs tab of the Options dialog. Only the catalogs specified on this tab are loaded into the drawing and, therefore, can be regenerated. For more information, see Specifying Part Catalogs and Style-Based Content Locations on page 70. 2 In AutoCAD MEP, click Manage tab ➤ MEP Content panel ➤ 3 Specify the catalogs to regenerate: If you want to re- then ... generate ... all of the catalogs enter a (All), and press Enter. ➤ Regenerate Catalog . the catalogs specified for a single domain, such as Duct or MvPart enter the appropriate letter, and press Enter. (For example, to regenerate the catalogs specified for Duct, enter d.) During the regeneration process, the software updates the catalogs to reflect new or deleted part sizes. NOTE If multiple catalogs are specified for a domain in the Options dialog, the software regenerates all of them in the order listed in the dialog. When the catalog regeneration is complete, a dialog containing the results is displayed. As noted in the dialog, you can view the full regeneration results in Validate\Catalog_Regen_Summary.txt; the Validate directory is located in the same directory as the Autodesk part catalog (APC file). Examining the text file is helpful when you need to verify that a specific part has been added to or removed from the catalog. 4 Click OK, and press Enter to end the command. If part sizes are missing or have not been removed, you can make the necessary modifications in the Catalog Editor. For more information, see Customizing Catalogs in Catalog Editor on page 774. Migrating Part Catalogs You can migrate part catalogs in a particular domain. In effect, this functionality lets you upgrade version and parameter information for existing part catalogs, ensuring that you are using the most updated catalog data. 1 In AutoCAD MEP, click Manage tab ➤ MEP Content panel ➤ ➤ Migrate Catalog . Regenerating a Part Catalog
