Configuring Layout Preferences for Cable Tray or Conduit

Configuring Layout Preferences for Cable Tray or Conduit You can configure layout preferences for cable tray and conduit to control the layout and appearance of wireway runs. As you draw cable tray or conduit, you can click in the Add dialog to change the preferences as needed during layout. Any changes you make remain in effect until you change them again. Layout preferences are stored in the drawing. The sample templates provided with AutoCAD MEP include default preferences so you can begin design layout immediately. You can create custom templates that include company-specific or project-specific preferences. Specifying Alignment for Cable Tray or Conduit Insertion By default, the cable tray and conduit that you draw is center-aligned horizontally and vertically. As a result, the centerlines of the segments and fittings are placed along the points you specify. You can change the alignment and also specify an offset distance. Changing alignments is useful if you want to run conduit or cable tray along drawing geometry. For example, if you want to add conduit at the along a wall at the bottom of the ceiling, you can set the justification to the top-left corner. When you draw the conduit, you simply need to select points along the top of the wall to place the conduit as desired. 1 Do one of the following in the Electrical workspace: ■ Click Manage tab ➤ Preferences panel ➤ Cable Tray . ■ Click Manage tab ➤ Preferences panel ➤ Conduit . TIP You can also access the layout preferences from the Add Cable Trays or Add Conduits dialog. Click in the lower-left corner of the dialog.
