Appendix - Reference Information Definitions of Part Properties The following definitions of part properties are listed alphabetically and include a brief description of how the properties are used in designing building systems. Adjacent Surface A physical wall shared by 2 engineering space surfaces. Specifying adjacent surfaces helps ensure accurate load calculations. Calculated Size The actual size of a pipe based on a calculated value that is the result of pipe sizing calculations for a plumbing system. Capacity The air flow used to calculate duct sizes using the instant sizing tool. Capacity is automatically calculated for systems with defined outlet devices, and it can also be manually specified. Circuit A collection of electrically connected devices or components. Circuits are used to show how electrical equipment is connected to upstream panels. Circuit Breaker Rating This value provides information found in a panel schedule. It is a property for Power and Lighting circuits only and is not to be confused with the rating associated with the panel. Circuit Description Circuit description gives distinguishing information about a circuit on a panel schedule. It is a property common to all system types. This property can be modified in Circuit Manager. Circuit Length Circuit length is a rough estimate of the total length of the circuit based on where the devices are placed in the drawing. Circuit length is a read-only property and it changes as devices are added or moved on each circuit. Circuit Name Circuit name identifies the circuit based on the circuit naming strategy specified in electrical preferences. It is a property common to all system types. This property can be modified in Circuit Manager. Circuit Voltage Circuit voltage is the voltage on a circuit that contains the system type Power and Lighting. The voltage is defined as a Voltage Definition. All devices connected to the circuit must have a voltage in the range of the voltage definition. See also Voltage. Connection Type Connection type is a property on ducts, pipes, conduits, and cable trays that describes how the segments are mounted together. Normally, the connection type must match to form a valid connection between segments. This is defined in connector styles. Cooling Loads The amount of conditioned air required to cool a room or a zone based on engineering space analysis. The cooling load is displayed in the Engineering Properties dialog.
