Configuring Mechanical Parts for Analysis You can assign air flow values to duct system equipment such as air terminals. The duct system can be analyzed, and sizes can be calculated using these values. 1 Select the part. You can configure preferences to control how duct runs are routed, displayed, and connected. For more information, see Configuring Duct System Settings on page 174. You can also assign duct runs to systems. AutoCAD MEP includes defined systems for duct. For example, you can assign a duct network to the Supply - Low Pressure system. For more information on system definitions, see Configuring Duct System Definitions on page 181. AutoCAD MEP includes tools you can use to calculate sizes for systems or individual segments. There are external analysis tools that work with AutoCAD MEP drawings to analyze and size duct. Drawing a Duct Run Use this procedure to add a duct run. In the Add dialog, you can specify the system and properties such as elevation, shape, and size. You can also calculate sizes for duct segments in the run using the instant sizing tool. You can choose to draw with a rise/run angle or use routing to specify a default elbow angle. You can define additional properties of the duct run, such as insulation or lining, by specifying layout preferences.
