16- and 36-Port Ethernet Switch Module for Cisco 2600 Series, Cisco 3600 Series, and Cisco 3700 Series spanning-tree backbonefast spanning-tree backbonefast To enable the BackboneFast feature, use the spanning-tree backbonefast command in global configuration mode. To return to the default setting, use the no form of the command. spanning-tree backbonefast no spanning-tree backbonefast Syntax Description This command has no arguments or keywords. Defaults BackboneFast is disabled. Command Modes Global configuration Command History Release 12.1(6)EA2 12.2(15)ZJ Modification This command was introduced. This command was implemented on the Cisco 2600 series, Cisco 3600 series, and Cisco 3700 series routers. Usage Guidelines BackboneFast should be enabled on all of the Catalyst 2950 switches to allow for the detection of indirect link failures and to start the spanning-tree reconfiguration sooner. Examples The following example shows how to enable BackboneFast on the switch: Switch(config)# spanning-tree backbonefast You can verify your settings by entering the show spanning-tree privileged EXEC command.
