Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to change the amount of time that the switch waits for client notification: Step 1 Step 2 Command configure terminal dot1x timeout tx-period seconds Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 end show dot1x copy running-config startup-config Purpose Enters global configuration mode. Sets the number of seconds that the switch waits for a response to an EAP-request/identity frame from the client before retransmitting the request. The range is 1 to 65535 seconds; the default is 30. Returns to privileged EXEC mode. Verifies your entries. (Optional) Saves your entries in the configuration file. To return to the default retransmission time, use the no dot1x timeout tx-period global configuration command. Setting the Switch-to-Client Frame-Retransmission Number In addition to changing the switch-to-client retransmission time, you can change the number of times that the switch sends an EAP-request/identity frame (assuming no response is received) to the client before restarting the authentication process.
