Using your notebook Monitoring the battery state of charge The state of charge of the battery is shown by the battery charging indicator. When you switch on the device, it takes a few seconds before the battery state of charge is displayed. Windows XP Windows XP includes a "current charge status indicator" for monitoring the battery capacity. This can be activated under Start - (Settings) - Control Panel - Power Options. Windows Vista Windows Vista includes a "current charge status indicator" for monitoring the battery capacity. This can be activated under Start - (Settings) - Control Panel - Mobile PC - Power Options. The indicator is then displayed in the task bar as a battery symbol.
