Selecting Fonts Note You can select fonts either from a software application or through the printer control panel. A font request from a software application or printer driver overrides font settings in the printer control panel. Selecting Fonts from Software Applications For information on changing font selection, base font, printer setup, print options, and font appearance from a software application, see the documentation for your application. Selecting Symbol Sets If you want to print a symbol such as Ω while the printer is in PCL mode, you must first select the symbol set that contains that character. See the PCL Color Technical Reference Guide or the PCL Comparison Guide for a complete listing of available symbol sets and printer commands. Contact HP Direct to obtain these guides. (See Appendix D for ordering information.) Symbol Set Availability Many software applications allow you to specify a symbol set from the printer setup menu. You should consider two things when using symbol sets: q Software applications may not support all of the printer's symbol sets. q Typefaces are designed to work with specific symbol sets.
