Configuration Commands Introduction The Configuration commands are available only from an administrator login. They include commands for configuring every aspect of the GbE2c. Changes can be saved to non-volatile memory (NVRAM). The following table describes the basic Configuration commands. The following sections provide more detailed information and commands. Command mode: All Viewing and saving changes As you use the configuration commands to set switch parameters, the changes you make take effect immediately. You do not need to apply configuration changes when you use the ISCLI. Any changes are lost the next time the switch boots unless the changes are explicitly saved. Saving the configuration You must save configuration changes to flash memory, so the GbE2c reloads the setting when you reset the switch. IMPORTANT: If you do not save the changes, they are lost the next time the system is reloaded. To save the new configuration, enter the following command at any prompt: Switch# copy running-config startup-config When you save configuration changes, the changes are saved to the active configuration block. For instructions about selecting the configuration to run at the next system reload, see the "Selecting a configuration block" section in the "Boot Options" chapter. Configuration Commands
Introduction
The Configuration commands are available only from an administrator login. They include commands for configuring
every aspect of the GbE2c. Changes can be saved to non-volatile memory (NVRAM).
The following table describes the basic Configuration commands. The following sections provide more detailed
information and commands.

Viewing and saving changes
As you use the configuration commands to set switch parameters, the changes you make take effect immediately. You
do not need to apply configuration changes when you use the ISCLI. Any changes are lost the next time the switch
boots unless the changes are explicitly saved.
Saving the configuration
You must save configuration changes to flash memory, so the GbE2c reloads the setting when you reset the switch.
IMPORTANT:
If you do not save the changes, they are lost the next time the system is reloaded.
To save the new configuration, enter the following command at any prompt:
Switch# copy running-config startup-config
When you save configuration changes, the changes are saved to the active configuration block.
For instructions about selecting the configuration to run at the next system reload, see the “Selecting a configuration
block” section in the “Boot Options” chapter.
System configuration
These commands allow you to configure switch management parameters such as user and administrator privilege
mode passwords, browser-based management settings, and management access list.
The following table describes the System Configuration commands.

wizard. Once a region is selected, the switch updates the time to
reflect local changes to Daylight Savings Time, etc.
