Filesystem synchronization and device locking The Distributed Lock Manager (DLM) daemon coordinates access to shared resources in the cluster. To do this, it provides the locking mechanisms used to implement the necessary synchronization for various filesystem operations. The recovery process restores only the structural metadata information. Any regular file data in the blocks that were in use when the shutdown occurred may be corrupted or lost.
