Update an existing .matrixrc file to use new features, HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software command

Page 49 highlights

NOTE: If you are using a wildcard to match the servers in the cluster, the wildcard entry should appear after any server entries. You can use the move buttons to reorder the entries as necessary. (For information about wildcards, see the description of the .matrixrc file in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software command reference guide.) • Reset. This option is useful if you have checked Remember this password on the Authentication Parameters dialog. If the user name/password information has changed, clicking Reset allows you to clear the saved user name and password. When you enter the new password information on the Authentication Parameters dialog, click Remember this password to update the .matrixrc file with the new information. NOTE: The password information is automatically removed if you get a password failure when connecting to the cluster. The "Synchronize Server Bookmarks Automatically" feature automatically adds (or removes) bookmark entries when you connect to a server that has been bookmarked. The resulting list of bookmarks matches the list of servers in the cluster to which the connected server belongs. You can then select the cluster, or any server in the cluster, for the connection. If the connection attempt fails, HP Scalable NAS will try to make the connection via another bookmarked server in that cluster. Update an existing .matrixrc file to use new features If your .matrixrc file was used in a HP Scalable NAS release earlier than 3.5.0 and has single servers configured, you will need to create a bookmark entry for the cluster in order to use the "synchronize bookmarks" feature. To do this, take one of these steps: • Click Add on the HP Scalable NAS Connect window to add a new bookmark. On the Add Bookmark window, specify a server and the name of the cluster. (After the bookmark is created, you can delete the single-server entries in the .matrixrc file.) HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide 49

NOTE:
If you are using a wildcard to match the servers in the cluster, the wildcard entry
should appear after any server entries. You can use the move buttons to reorder
the entries as necessary. (For information about wildcards, see the description
of the
.matrixrc
file in the
HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software command
reference guide
.)
Reset.
This option is useful if you have checked
Remember this password
on the
Authentication Parameters dialog. If the user name/password information has
changed, clicking
Reset
allows you to clear the saved user name and password.
When you enter the new password information on the Authentication Parameters
dialog, click
Remember this password
to update the
.matrixrc
file with the
new information.
NOTE:
The password information is automatically removed if you get a password failure
when connecting to the cluster.
The
Synchronize Server Bookmarks Automatically
feature automatically adds (or
removes) bookmark entries when you connect to a server that has been bookmarked.
The resulting list of bookmarks matches the list of servers in the cluster to which the
connected server belongs. You can then select the cluster, or any server in the cluster,
for the connection. If the connection attempt fails, HP Scalable NAS will try to make
the connection via another bookmarked server in that cluster.
Update an existing .matrixrc file to use new features
If your
.matrixrc
file was used in a HP Scalable NAS release earlier than 3.5.0
and has single servers configured, you will need to create a bookmark entry for the
cluster in order to use the
synchronize bookmarks
feature. To do this, take one of
these steps:
Click
Add
on the HP Scalable NAS Connect window to add a new bookmark.
On the Add Bookmark window, specify a server and the name of the cluster.
(After the bookmark is created, you can delete the single-server entries in the
.matrixrc
file.)
