Cluster software requirements The operating system and HP software must be installed consistently across the servers in the cluster. When configuring your servers, you should be aware of the following requirements: • All servers must be running versions of the operating system and kernel that are supported by HP Scalable NAS. • The servers in the cluster can be running different supported versions of the same operating system type as long as the above rule is met. • HP Scalable NAS must be installed on all nodes in the cluster. If FS Option for Linux or MxDB-Oracle-HiAv is used, it must be installed on all nodes. Tested configuration limits The tested configuration limits for HP Scalable NAS and FS Option are as follows. These limits will be increased as additional testing takes place. Theoretically, the tested configuration limits can be exceeded up to the bounds of the operating system. If you plan to configure your cluster beyond the tested limits, please contact HP Technical Support for information about any known configuration issues or concerns. HP Scalable NAS HP Scalable NAS has been tested to the following configuration limits: • 16 servers per cluster. • 508 LUNs per cluster for Fibre Channel fabric configurations. For iSCSI configurations, the maximum number of connections for the iSCSI initiator. • 512 filesystems per cluster. • 1750 filesystem mounts per cluster. • 128 virtual hosts per cluster. • 128 service and/or device monitors per cluster. • 10 event notifiers per cluster. • 4 network interface cards per server. • 4 Fibre Channel ports per server. • 1024 unique paths to disks in the cluster.
