High-availability monitors FS Option provides two types of monitors that ensure high-availability for exported NFS filesystems: a global NFS monitor and Export Group monitors. Global NFS monitor The global NFS monitor periodically checks the status of the NFS service and the virtual FS Option processes on each node. If the monitor detects that the NFS service or a FS Option process is not available on a particular node, any Virtual NFS Services currently active on that node will fail over to a backup. The Export Group monitors on the node experiencing the failure will report a DOWN status and the associated error information. You can configure the probe settings for this monitor. See Configure the global NFS probe settings, page 185 for more information. Export Group monitor An Export Group monitor is active on each node associated with the Export Group. This monitor periodically tests whether each exported filesystem path contains a mounted PSFS filesystem. If the filesystem is not mounted, the monitor probe reports a DOWN status. Depending on your configuration, any Virtual NFS Services that are exporting the filesystem and are active on the node will be failed over to a backup node where the filesystem is mounted. NOTE: If a filesystem path does not exist, the monitor issues a warning. A deleted export path should be either recreated or removed from the Export Group at the administrator's earliest convenience. The monitor also attempts to perform a direct IO read of a few blocks on the filesystem. If these additional IO reads cause problems on your system, you can disable them via the global NFS probe settings. High-availability monitors

FS Option provides two types of monitors that ensure high-availability for exported

NFS filesystems: a global NFS monitor and Export Group monitors.

Global NFS monitor

The global NFS monitor periodically checks the status of the NFS service and the

virtual FS Option processes on each node. If the monitor detects that the NFS service

or a FS Option process is not available on a particular node, any Virtual NFS Services

currently active on that node will fail over to a backup. The Export Group monitors

on the node experiencing the failure will report a DOWN status and the associated

error information.

Export Group monitor

An Export Group monitor is active on each node associated with the Export Group.

This monitor periodically tests whether each exported filesystem path contains a

mounted PSFS filesystem. If the filesystem is not mounted, the monitor probe reports

a DOWN status. Depending on your configuration, any Virtual NFS Services that

are exporting the filesystem and are active on the node will be failed over to a backup

node where the filesystem is mounted.

NOTE:

If a filesystem path does not exist, the monitor issues a warning. A deleted export

path should be either recreated or removed from the Export Group at the
