Create the administrative filesystem The replication feature and the Performance Dashboard require that an administrative filesystem exist on the cluster. This filesystem can also be used for the mxfs reply cache, which FS Option uses when the virtualized NFSD RPC reply cache feature is enabled. The administrative filesystem should be used only for HP Scalable NAS operations. NOTE: The administrative filesystem is preconfigured on HP StorageWorks 4400 Scalable NAS systems. IMPORTANT: Do not use psfssuspend to suspend the administrative filesystem. Doing this can cause issues with the cluster. Determine the size for the administrative filesystem The minimum size for the administrative filesystem is 10GB; however HP recommends that the filesystem be at least 50GB. If the replication feature is used, you may need to create a larger filesystem. Use the following formula to determine the space required for replication. S = ((4KB * C) * (N+1)) * B The variables in the formula are as follows: S Space needed for replication C Average number of unique changes per replication interval per node N Number of nodes in the cluster B Backlog; the number of replication intervals (≥1) that replication is behind HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide 139
