OTHER FUNCTIONS 13 D Weather alert function NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones before important weather announcements. When the weather alert function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is monitored every 5 sec. for the announcement. When the alert signal is detected, the "ALT" and the WX channel indications are displayed alternately and a beep sounds until the transceiver is operated. The previously selected (used) weather channel is checked periodically during standby or while scanning. q Select the desired weather channel. w Enter "WX-ALT" in SCAN set mode. MENU ¶ SCAN ¶ WX-ALT (p. 122) (Push [MENU ]), (Push [ ](2)/[ ](8), then push [ ](5).) e Push [ ](2) or [ ](8) to select "ON" or "OFF." r Push [ ](5) (or [ ](4)) to return to SCAN set mode, and push [MENU ] to return to the weather channel indication. t Set the desired stand-by condition. • Select VFO, memory or call channel. • Scan or priority watch operation can also be selected. 1 2 y When the alert is detected, a beep sounds and the follow- 3 ing indication is displayed. 4 5 6 7 Shows above indications alternately. 8 u Turn the weather alert function OFF in Scan menu. 9 NOTE: While receiving a signal on a frequency other than 10 the Weather alert frequency, the receiving signal will be interrupted momentarily approximately every 5 sec. when 11 the Whether alert function is ON.
