When the desired protocol definition setting is displayed, press to select the item. Training Retries - This is the number of attempts made to receive a fax before switching to a different compression setting. When Training Retries is selected, use the and keys to navigate to the desired number of retries, and press to select the new setting. Press to exit. Encoding - This allows you set the fax compression setting. The options are JBIG, MMR, MR, and MH. This can also be changed in the user menus. When Encoding is selected, use the and keys to navigate to the desired encoding, and press to select the new setting. Press to exit. Protocol Definition Timer - These settings affect the time duration before a protocol used to transmit a fax is switched. This setting is country or region dependent and should not be changed without supervision of a second-level support person.
