8 YOUR CONNECTIONS TO THE WEB AND WIRELESS DEVICES CHAPTER Using your device as a wireless modem 4 Press Connect (left softkey). 5 On your computer, open your web browser to confirm that you can connect to the Internet. Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is the feature that converts your smartphone into a modem so that you can access the Internet from your computer. You can set up Internet Connection Sharing in one of two ways: • Connect your smartphone to your computer using the USB sync cable. • If your computer is enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology, you can set up your smartphone as a wireless modem using the built-in Bluetooth technology. Setting up a USB Internet Connection Sharing connection 1 Press Home Centre . , and then press 2 Select Applications , and then select Internet Sharing . 3 Select the PC Connection list, and then select USB. Creating a Bluetooth Internet Connection Sharing connection BEFORE YOU BEGIN • Make sure your smartphone is visible (see Entering basic Bluetooth settings). • Create a partnership between your smartphone and your computer. We recommend that you initiate the partnership from your smartphone (see Requesting a connection with another Bluetooth device). 1 On your computer, double-click the icon to open the Bluetooth connections window. Check the documentation included with your computer for instructions. 2 Select the option to view devices within range. 3 You should see an icon representing your smartphone.
