■ Program Change These events determine the selected voice for the note data. Keep in mind that Program Change events can be inserted at any point in a song track, letting you change voices in the middle of a song. Song Edit mode n For details on using Control Change numbers (including those above), refer to the separate Data List booklet. ■ Channel Aftertouch (CAT) This event is generated when pressure is applied to a key after the note is played. Reference Song mode Bank Select MSB Program number Bank Select LSB Voice name • Bank Select MSB, LSB Determines the voice bank. ❏ Settings ***~127 n Bank select MSB and LSB are actually part of the Control Change set of messages (below). However, since they apply specifically to voice selection, they grouped and described here. • Program number Determines the specific voice (from the bank selected by MSB and LSB above). ❏ Settings 001~128 n For a complete list of the available voice banks and numbers, refer to the Voice List in the separate Data List booklet. ■ Control Change These events control the sound and certain response characteristics of the voice, and are usually generated/ recorded by moving a controller (such as a modulation wheel, knob, slider or foot controller). Control number Data • Control number Determines the Control Change number. (See chart below.) ❏ Settings 000~127 Control Number 001 005 007 010 011 064 065 066 067 071 074 084 120 Function Modulation Wheel Portamento Time Volume Pan (Stereo position) Expression Sustain (Hold 1) Portamento on/off Sostenuto pedal on/off Soft Pedal on/off Harmonic Content (controls Filter Resonance) Brightness (controls Filter Cutoff Frequency) Portamento Source Note Number All Sound Off Data • Data This represents the amount of pressure applied to the key. ❏ Settings 000~127 ■ Polyphonic Aftertouch (PAT) This event is generated when pressure is applied to a key after the note is played. Unlike Channel Aftertouch above, this is recorded and applied independently for each key pressed. Note name Data • Note name Determines the key to which aftertouch is applied. ❏ Settings C -2~G8 • Data This represents the amount of pressure applied to the key. ❏ Settings 000~127 ■ Registered Parameter Number (RPN) This event changes parameter values for each tone generator part. This event is used to set part settings such as Pitch Bend Sensitivity or Tuning.
