Chapter 4 Wizard Setup Table 13 ISP Parameters: Ethernet Encapsulation LABEL DESCRIPTION IP Address Assignment Select Dynamic If your ISP did not assign you a fixed IP address. This is the default selection. Select Static If the ISP assigned a fixed IP address. The fields below are available only when you select Static. My WAN IP Address Enter your WAN IP address in this field. My WAN IP Subnet Mask Enter the IP subnet mask in this field. Gateway IP Address Enter the gateway IP address in this field. First DNS Server Second DNS Server Enter the DNS server's IP address(es) in the field(s) to the right. Leave the field as 0.0.0.0 if you do not want to configure DNS servers. If you do not configure a DNS server, you must know the IP address of a machine in order to access it. Back Click Back to return to the previous wizard screen. Apply Click Apply to save your changes and go to the next screen. 4.2.1.2 PPPoE Encapsulation Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) functions as a dial-up connection. PPPoE is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard specifying how a host personal computer interacts with a broadband modem (for example DSL, cable, wireless, etc.) to achieve access to high-speed data networks.
