Reference Glossary bitmapped font Typefaces set in specific sizes and styles. Bitmapped fonts are mapped out bit-by-bit. bits per second (bps) A measurement of the speed of data being transferred through a serial interface. bps See bits per second. buffer A portion of memory used to temporarily store data.
