Taking Photographs-Self-Timer Mode Self-Timer Mode Delaying Shutter Release The self-timer can be used to reduce camera shake or for self-portraits. To use the self-timer: 1 Mount the camera on a tripod (recommended) or place the camera on a stable, level surface. 2 Press the shooting mode dial lock release and rotate the shooting mode dial to select (selftimer mode). 3 Frame the photograph and press the shutterrelease button halfway to focus. In single-servo autofocus ( 63), photographs can only be taken if the in-focus (●) indicator appears in the viewfinder.
