BASIC OPERATIONS On deck 1, tapes are always played back on both sides. On deck 2, you can select reverse mode to play back one or both sides. 1 Press the TAPE/ DECK 1/2 button. TAPE is displayed. If you press the button with power off The power is turned on and TAPE is displayed. If a tape is loaded, play begins without any need to press the +- button (direct play function). 2 Open the cassette holder by pressing the EJECT A mark and insert a tape exposed side down. Push the cassette holder to close it. The deck whose number, 1 or 2, is displayed can be operated by the deck operation buttons. When tapes are inserted in both decks The tape in the deck closed last will be played. To switch the deck number, press the TAPE/DECK 1/2 button. 3 Set DOLBY NR to match the playback tape. For tapes recorded with DOLBY NR, press the DOLBY NR button to turn on the Dolby NR. The DO NR indicator will light. For tapes recorded without DOLBY NR, press the DOLBY NR button to turn off the Dolby NR. The 00 NR indicator will go off 4 Press the + P button to start playback. Playback starts from the side facing you. @) Playback side of the tape D: The side facing you (the front side) is played. 4: The other side (the side away from you) is played. @ Tape counter Each deck has a counter, and the counter of the selected deck is displayed. To select a reverse mode (deck 2 only) + u Each time the REV MODE button is pressed, the reverse mode changes. The unit can be set to the following reverse modes. =: The unit plays one side only and stops. z>: The unit plays from the front side to the backside and stops. (=1: The unit plays both sides repeatedly. When playing on deck 1 On deck 1, the REV MODE button does not work. Each side is played back once and stops. To stop playback Press the s button. To pause (deck 2 only) Press the II button. The II button flashes. To resume play, press it again. To be continued. 3b
