Configuration Tasks 16- and 36-Port Ethernet Switch Module for Cisco 2600 Series, Cisco 3600 Series, and Cisco 3700 Series Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to enable BackboneFast: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Command configure terminal spanning-tree backbonefast end show spanning-tree vlan vlan-id copy running-config startup-config Purpose Enters global configuration mode. Enables BackboneFast on the switch. Returns to privileged EXEC mode. Verifies your entries. (Optional) Saves your entries in the configuration file. To disable the BackboneFast feature, use the no spanning-tree backbonefast global configuration command. Disabling Spanning Tree To disable spanning tree on a per-VLAN basis, use the following commands in global configuration mode: Step 1 Step 2 Command Router(config)# no spanning-tree vlan vlan-id Router(config)# end Verifying that Spanning Tree is Disabled Purpose Disables spanning tree on a per-VLAN basis. Exits configuration mode. Step 1 Use the show spanning-tree vlan command to verify the that the spanning tree is disabled: Router# show spanning-tree vlan 200 Spanning tree instance for VLAN 200 does not exist.
