Level Level 0 Level 1 Level 2 Smart Cover Sensor Smart Cover Sensor is a combination of hardware and software technology that can alert you when the computer cover or side panel has been removed. There are three levels of protection, as described in the following table: Smart Cover Sensor Protection Levels Setting Description Disabled Smart Cover Sensor is disabled (default). Notify User When the computer is restarted, the screen displays a message indicating that the computer cover or side panel has been removed. Setup Password When the computer is restarted, the screen displays a message indicating that the computer cover or side panel has been removed. You must enter the Setup password to continue. Setting the Smart Cover Sensor Protection Level To set the Smart Cover Sensor protection level, complete the following steps: 1. Access Computer Setup from the Compaq Utilities menu. 2. Select the Built-In Devices option. 3. Select the Security Management option. 4. Locate the Setup Password option and select Enable Setup Password, if not already established. Follow the instructions on the screen to establish a setup password, then select OK. 5. Select a Smart Cover Sensor protection level, then select OK to exit the security management screen. Smart Cover Sensor
Smart Cover Sensor is a combination of hardware and software
technology that can alert you when the computer cover or side
panel has been removed. There are three levels of protection, as
described in the following table:

Smart Cover Sensor is disabled (default).

that the computer cover or side panel has been removed. You must enter
the Setup password to continue.
Setting the Smart Cover Sensor Protection Level
To set the Smart Cover Sensor protection level, complete the
following steps:
1. Access Computer Setup from the Compaq Utilities menu.
2. Select the Built-In Devices option.
3. Select the Security Management option.
4. Locate the Setup Password option and select Enable Setup
Password, if not already established.
Follow the instructions on the screen to establish a setup
password, then select OK.
5. Select a Smart Cover Sensor protection level, then select
OK to exit the security management screen.
