AUI (15-pin) connector
Enabling the AUI
Connector
The network can only be active on one connector or the other.
By default, your computer is configured for 10/100 operation
with the RJ-45 connector. To enable the AUI connector,
complete the following steps:
1. Double-click the Network icon, located in the Control
Panel.
2. Double-click the Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX
Embedded UTP Controller.
3. Select the Advanced Properties tab.
4. Select Media Connector.
5. Change the value to AUI.
6. Exit the Network control application.
You will be prompted to restart your computer in order for
the changes to take affect.
Connecting to an
Ethernet Network
To connect to an Ethernet network, complete the following
steps:
1. Using the network cable appropriate for your network,
connect one end of the network cable to the main
network connection.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the appropriate
network connector on your computer.
3. Ensure that both connections are secure.
The following illustration shows the position of the
network connectors on the rear panel of the Pentium-
based models. The network connectors are located in the
same relative position on the Pentium II–based models.
