3 Enable the Management interface in INTERFACE mode. no shutdown Configure management interface OS10(config)# interface mgmt 1/1/1 OS10(conf-if-ma-1/1/1)# ip address 10.1.1.10/24 OS10(conf-if-ma-1/1/1)# no shutdown VLAN interfaces VLANs are logical interfaces and are, by default, in L2 mode. Physical interfaces and port-channels can be members of VLANs. OS10 supports inter-VLAN routing. You can add IP addresses to VLANs and use them in routing protocols in the same manner that physical interfaces are used. You cannot assign an IP address to VLAN1 (default). When using VLANs in a routing protocol, you must configure the no shutdown command to enable the VLAN for routing traffic. In VLANs, the shutdown command prevents L3 traffic from passing through the interface - L2 traffic is unaffected by this command. • Configure an IP address in A.B.C.D/x format on the interface in INTERFACE mode. The secondary IP address is the interface's backup IP address - you can configure up to eight secondary IP addresses. ip address ip-address/mask [secondary] Configure VLAN OS10(config)# interface vlan 10 OS10(conf-if-vl-10)# ip address 1.1.1.2/24 You cannot simultaneously use egress rate shaping and ingress rate policing on the same VLAN. Loopback interfaces A loopback interface is a virtual interface in which the software emulates an interface. Because a loopback interface is not associated to physical hardware entities, the loopback interface status is not affected by hardware status changes. Packets routed to a loopback interface are processed locally to the OS10 device. Because this interface is not a physical interface, you can configure routing protocols on this interface to provide protocol stability. You can place loopback interfaces in default L3 mode. • Enter the loopback interface number in CONFIGURATION mode (0 to 16383). interface loopback number • Enter the loopback interface number to view the configuration in EXEC mode. show interface loopback number • Enter the loopback interface number to delete a loopback interface in CONFIGURATION mode. no interface loopback number View loopback interface OS10# show interface loopback 4 Loopback 4 is up, line protocol is up Hardware is unknown.
