Glossary IML See initial machine load. inband management Management of the director through a Fibre Channel connection to a port card. information message Software message that indicates to a user that a function is performing normally or has completed normally. See also error message and warning message. initial machine load (IML) Hardware reset for all installed CTP cards on the director. It does not affect other hardware. It is initiated by pushing the white button on a director's CTP card. initial program load (IPL) Process of initializing the device and causing the operating system to start.
