DV MODE OPERATION 7 ■ Break-in communication The break-in function allows you to break into a conversation, where the two original stations are communicating with call sign squelch enabled. q While receiving an another station's communication, push and hold [RX➝CS](CALL) for 1 sec. to set the communicating station's call sign. • When a call sign has not been received correctly, error beeps sound and no call sign is set. Try to set the call sign of a communicating signal again, or set the call sign manually. w Turn the Break-in function ON in the MENU screen operation (p. 106), then exit the MENU screen operation. • "BK" appears. DV BK Appears B4 3 0 7 1 250 LOW ATT e When both stations are in standby, push [PTT] to transmit a break-in call. • The programmed call sign station receives the break-in call as well as your call sign. r Wait for the reply call from the station who receives the break-in call. t After receiving the reply call, communicate normally. y To cancel the break-in function, turn the Break-in function OFF in the MENU screen operation (p. 106). NOTE: The break-in function is turned OFF automatically when turning transceiver's power OFF • How to use the break-in? 1 While operating with the call sign squelch (p. 124), the 2 squelch never opens (no audio sounds) even if a call is re- ceived, unless your own call sign ("MY") is specified. 3 However, when the call including the "BK ON" signal 4 (break-in call) is received, the squelch will open and audio sounds even if the call is specified for another station. 5 • Station C calling to Station A with "BK OFF" 6 Station A and B are communicating using the call sign squelch. Station A Station B never hears that Station C is calling Station A. 7 8 Station B 9 10 11 Station C 12 • Station C calling to Station A with "BK ON" 13 Station A and B are communicating using the call sign squelch. Break-in communication
The break-in function allows you to break into a conversa-
tion, where the two original stations are communicating with
call sign squelch enabled.

While receiving an another station’s communication, push
and hold
[RX
➝
CS](CALL)
for 1 sec. to set the communi-
cating station’s call sign.
•
When a call sign has not been received correctly, error beeps
sound and no call sign is set. Try to set the call sign of a com-
municating signal again, or set the call sign manually.

Turn the Break-in function ON in the MENU screen opera-
tion (p. 106), then exit the MENU screen operation.
• “BK” appears.

When both stations are in standby, push
[PTT]
to transmit
a break-in call.

The programmed call sign station receives the break-in call as
well as your call sign.

Wait for the reply call from the station who receives the
break-in call.

After receiving the reply call, communicate normally.

• How to use the break-in?
While operating with the call sign squelch
(p. 124)

squelch never opens

even if a call is re-

However, when the call including the “BK ON” signal
(break-in call)
is received, the squelch will open and audio
sounds even if the call is specified for another station.
