Configuring a GARP Timer GARP timers must be set to the same values on all devices that are exchanging information using GVRP: • Join: A GARP device reliably transmits Join messages to other devices by sending each Join message two times. Use this parameter to define the interval between the two sending operations of each Join message. The FTOS default is 200ms. • Leave: When a GARP device expects to de-register a piece of attribute information, it will send out a Leave message and start this timer. If a Join message does not arrive before the timer expires, the information is de-registered. The Leave timer must be greater than or equal to 3x the Join timer. The FTOS default is 600ms. • LeaveAll: Upon startup, a GARP device globally starts a LeaveAll timer. Upon expiration of this interval, it will send out a LeaveAll message so that other GARP devices can re-register all relevant attribute information. The device then restarts the LeaveAll timer to begin a new cycle. The LeaveAll timer must be greater than or equal to 5x of the Leave timer. The FTOS default is 10000ms.
