Chapter 9: Troubleshooting Updating your System If you are using Windows NT or Windows 95/98 make sure that you have installed the latest Microsoft Service Pack for your operating system. These are available from Microsoft Corporation. Information will be available on their website, www.microsoft.com. Simple Troubleshooting Here are some simple resolutions to occasional printer problems. All LEDs are off... Check that the power cord is plugged into a live power outlet and the printer power switch is turned on. On Line LED is on but printer does not print... • Press the Operator panel button. • Verify that all interface cable connections are tightly secured. • Verify that the Toner module is properly installed. Paper does not output to the output tray... Check for a paper jam or misfeed. 106 Paper does not stack correctly... Check that the paper is between 16 and 43 pounds base weight. When turning on the printer, all the LEDs are steadily lit... Reset the printer to factory defaults. See page 27 of this manual. If the LEDs are still all lit, call NEC Technical Support at 1-800-632-4650. Installation Problems If you have problems installing the printer, review the following information to help you resolve any difficulty. If you are printing under Windows® or Windows NT®, make sure that you have installed the latest Service Pack for your operating system. Some problems can be solved if you have the latest Service Pack from Microsoft loaded on your computer. These are available from Microsoft Corporation. Wrong System or Hardware Configuration If the installation program detects that your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements, it quits without installing.
