Chapter 9: Troubleshooting About Paper Jams Paper jams may occur in the following three areas. (The arrows indicate the two paper paths.) Check for jams in the order listed: 1. The input areas 2. The Toner module area 3. The output areas Clearing Paper Jams and Wrinkling When paper jams during a print run, the Error (red) light on the Operator panel will light up. It will continue to stay lit until the Top cover of the printer is opened, the paper jam is cleared, and the Top cover is re-closed. 108 Common causes of paper jams include: • The paper you loaded is not recommended for this printer. • The paper is not loaded correctly in the cassette. This is a common cause of jams associated with the paper input. Ensure the paper is not crooked when loaded into the tray by "snugging-up" the paper guides on either sides of the paper. Do not overfill the paper cassette. • The paper size you specified does not match the paper size you loaded in the printer. • The paper, transparencies, or labels used are sticking together. Be sure to fan the media before loading it into the paper tray. See page 86. • The printer is not on a stable, level surface. Find a more suitable location for the printer. • The paper is wrinkled as it comes from going through the printer the second time as in 2sided printing. To prevent this do the following: after the first pass through the printer, roll the paper in the opposite direction of the curl before inserting it back into the printer. • Your paper jam occurred in the Fuser area of the printer. This can happen if the imaging modules are not installed properly. Remove both the Toner module and the Photo-

Paper jams may occur in the following three areas.

Clearing Paper Jams and Wrinkling
When paper jams during a print run, the Error
(red) light on the Operator panel will light up. It
will continue to stay lit until the Top cover of the
printer is opened, the paper jam is cleared, and
the Top cover is re-closed.

The paper you loaded is not recommended for
this printer.
The paper is not loaded correctly in the
cassette. This is a common cause of jams
associated with the paper input. Ensure the
