150 Exploring Your Options Exchanging data with another computer minutes as it waits for a reply. To avoid this delay, you can reconfigure Windows to disable the LAN port. To disable the LAN port: 1 Click Start, then Control Panel. 2 Double-click the System icon, click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. 3 Select the network adapter in Network Adapters. 4 Click the Properties icon on the toolbar. 5 Select the Do not use this device (disable) option from the Device usage drop-down. 6 Click OK. Your LAN port is now disabled. To enable the Ethernet LAN port, repeat steps one through four. Select the Use this device (enable) check box, and click OK. Setting up a wireless connection For information on how to set up a wireless connection, refer to the online help that came with your operating system or your network administrator. Using the Wi-Fi module NOTE The transmission speed over the wireless LAN and the distance over which wireless LAN can reach may vary depending on surrounding electromagnetic environment, obstacles, access point design and configuration, and client design and software/hardware configurations.
