Linux Installation 5 Add initrd=(path and name of RAM disk; i.e. /boot/initrd***kernel string***) after root=line for the boot image in / etc/lilo.conf. /etc.lilo.conf should look similar to the following: boot=/dev/hda map=/boot/map install=/boot/boot.b prompt timeout=50 linear default=linux image=/boot/vmlinux-***kernel string*** label=linux root=/dev/hda7 image=/boot/vmlinux-***kernel string*** label=linux-up root=/dev/hda7 6 Run LILO to update the boot record on disk by typing the following: /sbin/lilo The output should be similar to: Added linux * Added Linux-up 7 Afterwards, halt the system, add the ATA RAID controller and reboot. During reboot, the new ATA RAID controller should be recognized. Afterwards, the Hardware Discover utility should pop up. 8 Press return to enter the Hardware Discover utility. 9 Select the Configure Device option.
