MFC-9700 Control Panel Overview 6 54 3 2 1 12 11 10 78 9 1 LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) The LCD displays messages to help you set up and operate your MFC. 2 Stop/Exit Stops a fax, cancels an operation, or exits from menu mode. 3 Dial Pad Dials phone and fax numbers, and can be used as a keyboard for entering information into the MFC. (For Canada only): The # key lets you switch the dialing type during a telephone call from PULSE to TONE. 4 Receive and Dialing Keys: Receive mode Use to select how the MFC will handle incoming calls. 6 One Touch Keys These 4 keys give you instant access to 8 previously stored auto dial numbers. 7 Fax Start Starts an operation, such as sending a fax. 8 Fax Resolution Sets the resolution when you send a fax. 9 Programming Keys: Menu Lets you access the menu and programing mode. (Left Arrow) (Right Arrow) Moves the LCD cursor through text and options. Redial / Pause Redials the last number that was called. Also inserts a pause in auto dial numbers. Search/Speed Dial Lets you look up numbers stored in the dialing memory. Also lets you dial stored phone numbers by pressing a # plus a two-digit number. 5 Shift To access memory locations 5 through 8 in the One Touch keys hold down the Shift key. Set Stores a menu setting in the MFC. Also used for sending one fax to multiple numbers. (For details, see Broadcasting, page 7-5.) 0 Copy Keys (Temporary Settings): Enlarge/Reduce Lets you reduce or enlarge copies depending upon the ratio you select. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
The LCD displays messages to help you
set up and operate your MFC.

Stop/Exit
Stops a fax, cancels an operation, or
exits from menu mode.

Dial Pad
Dials phone and fax numbers, and can
be used as a keyboard for entering
information into the MFC.
(For Canada only): The # key lets you
