5 Setup Receive 5 Receive Mode Settings Select Your Receive Mode There are three different receive modes for your MFC. You may choose the mode that best suits your needs by pressing Receive Mode repeatedly until the LCD shows the setting you want to use. LCD How it works When to use it FAX ONLY The MFC automotically For dedicated fax lines. (automatic receive) answers every call as a fax. EXT.TEL/TAD (External telephone / External Telephone Answering Device) If an external telephone is connected to the EXT. jack, you control the phone line and must answer every call yourself. Use this mode if you receive very few faxes. MANUAL (manual receive) If an external TAD (telephone answering device) is connected to the EXT. jack, the TAD automatically answers every call. Voice messages are stored in the external TAD. Fax messages are printed. Use this mode if you have an external answering machine on your phone line. You control the phone line and must answer every call yourself by using an external phone. Use this mode when you are using a computer modem on the same line or if you receive very few fax messages. Select Your Receive Mode
There are three different receive modes for your MFC. You may choose the
mode that best suits your needs by pressing
Receive Mode
repeatedly until the
