Troubleshooting Parallel Printer Problems If there is a problem using a printer from the parallel port, follow the suggestions below: Figure 2-7 Parallel Printer Problems Make sure the printer has power and is properly connected to the computer. (Also, be sure the printer has paper in it.) Check the printer manual for the printer's correct DIP switch or control panel settings. Try a different cable. Also, try a different printer if one is available. If there is more than one parallel port, check the primary and secondary port settings in the SETUP program to make sure they are correct. Run the parallel port diagnostics test. Replace the system board. Connector CN5 or the parallel port controller in the F82C711 gate array may be faulty. If there is a problem using a printer from the parallel port, follow the suggestions below:

Make sure the printer has power and is properly connected to the computer. (Also, be
sure the printer has paper in it.)
Check the printer manual for the printer’s correct DIP switch or control panel settings.
Try a different cable. Also, try a different printer if one is available.
If there is more than one parallel port, check the primary and secondary port settings
in the SETUP program to make sure they are correct.
Run the parallel port diagnostics test.
Replace the system board. Connector CN5 or the parallel port controller in the
F82C711 gate array may be faulty. Authorized service centers outside the U.S. can
replace the gate array chip or connector.
