Removing and Replacing Subassemblies Removing SlMMs If you need to remove SIMMs from the computer, follow these steps: Remove the computer's cover as described on page 3-2. Remove any option cards that may be blocking access to the SIMM sockets (see page 3-5). Use your fingers or a small screwdriver to pull away the metal tabs that secure the SIMM at each end. Be careful not to pull the tabs too far, or they may bend. Metal Tab Figure 3-7 Removing SIMMs As you pull away the tabs, the SIMM falls to the side of its socket as shown in Figure 3-7. When the SIMM is at an angle, carefully remove the SIMM and store it in an anti-static bag. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for removing additional SIMMs. Replace any option cards removed (see page 3-7). Replace the computer's cover (see page 3-4). Run the SETUP program immediately to update the computer's configuration with the new memory information. Epson NX Service Manual 3-9
