Chapter 2 Loading Documents For how to load documents with tabs or non-rectangular documents, refer to "Loading Documents with Tabs or Non-Rectangular Documents" (on page 45). According to the length of your document, slide the Paper Chute Extension out from the ADF Paper Chute up to the position where the document can be fully supported. ʂ When scanning plastic cards, take a special care for the following: • Place one card at a time on the ADF Paper Chute. • It is recommended that the front side of the card be placed face down in the ADF. • Place the card in the following orientation (portrait). Place face down. • Cards to be scanned should satisfy: ISO7810 type ID-1 type compliant card Size : 86 mm (height) x 54 mm (width) (3.39 in. x 2.13 in.) Thickness : 0.76 ± 0.08 mm (0.030 ± 0.003 in.) Material : Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) or Polyvinyl chloride acetate (PVCA) Before scanning your card, test with a dummy card of the same material to see if it can be fed into the ADF properly. • Embossed cards cannot be scanned. • Cards that are excessively rigid or stiff may not feed smoothly. • Clean off greasy finger prints if any from the surface of your card before scanning. • Cards cannot be scanned when the imprinter is installed.
