Macintosh Macintosh install and uninstall instructions The HP LaserJet 5200 printer comes with software and installers for MS Windows and Apple Computer, Inc., Macintosh systems. Linux and UNIX systems support the HP LaserJet 5200 printer, and software is available on the Web. This document provides procedures for installing and removing the HP LaserJet 5200 printing-system software for Macintosh operating systems. Topics: ● Macintosh component descriptions ● Install the Macintosh printing system ● Uninstall the Macintosh printing system Macintosh component descriptions The device includes the following software for Macintosh computers: ● PPDs for Mac OS X V10.2.8 or later ● PDEs for Mac OS X V10.2.8 or later) Topics: ● HP LaserJet PPDs ● PDEs ● HP Embedded Web Server ● Install notes ● Online help ● Screen fonts HP LaserJet PPDs In Mac OS X V10.2.8 or later, the PPDs are installed in Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/ Resources:.lproj, where is the appropriate localized folder. The PPDs, in combination with the driver, provide access to the device features and allow the computer to communicate with the device. A print setup tool for the PPDs is provided on the printing-system software CD. For information about the print setup tools in various Macintosh operating systems, see Table 6-1 Adding a printer in Macintosh operating systems. PDEs Printer Dialog Extensions (PDEs) are code plug-ins (for Mac OS X V10.2.8 or later only) that provide access to device features, such as number of copies, duplexing, and quality settings. 270 Chapter 6 Macintosh ENWW
