Chapter 5 Problem Solving 191 Software, Computer, and Printer Interface Problems Print Job Does Not Print Check to see if... Printer is off or not connected to an active power source. Printer is offline. Port is configured and and working properly. Printer is online but not receiving data (the Data light does not blink). Printer displays a message. Solution Make sure the printer is on and that all power cables are firmly plugged into both the printer components and an active power source. Press GO to put the printer online. Printer should display READY and ON LINE should be lit. z Connect another printer to current port and print. z Make sure the print job is being sent to the correct port (LPT1, or network printer port, for example). z Check your I/O cable: z Check for loose I/O cable connections at the printer and computer or network port. z Try your I/O cable on a system that you know works. z Check that the correct interface cable was selected and securely connected to both the printer and the computer. If the cable is not correctly configured, see the getting started guide for configuration information.
